Actually, it’s not new at all. But for those of you that haven’t started using this strange thing called RSS this is the best introduction i have seen. I have tried to explain something about feed readers and stuff here at eirikso before, but all you need to get started is this video.
Yes. And you can see the RSS symbol up there besides the “Subscribe“-link. Still, if you simply want to use your email inbox you can subscribe to my email update and other services here.
And by the way. Some feed readers and email clients don’t show embedded videos. So if you’re reading this in a feed reader or email you might have to click thorugh to read the article on eirikso.com. You know, the old way…
First, if you don’t know what RSS is you should read this.
Then, the cool stuff
Many bloggers post huge amounts of articles that are simple links to the interesting stuff they find around the web. I try to only post articles here at eirikso.com when I have something to share. More than a simple link. But I spend quite a bit of time reading other web sites and updating myself on new technology. A lot of the stuff I find is of high quality and interesting to share. But not enough for a separate article here on this blog. Here is the solution.
I am currently using Google Reader to keep track of the hundreds of web sites I try to check regularly. With Google Reader I can mark articles with “shared” to add them to a separate feed that I can share with my readers here at eirikso.com. In other words, a page with all the stuff that I find interesting enough to share with anyone that cares.
If you want to benefit from the hours I spend reading interesting blogs and web sites you can follow this site: Eirik’s shared items in Google Reader
Or add this feed to your RSS reader. Or simply check the dynamic list in my sidebar to the right. Just below “Recent Comments” you now find “Interesting from other sites”.
The problem is not PNG. As stated in the comment from Ben Lowery it is a CSS issue. I am truly impressed by the fact that the good people at Bloglines actually found this post on my blog, read it as a bug report and actually fix the problem. Now that is what I call customer support!
I have quite a bit of readers subscribing to this blog through Bloglines. It seems like Bloglines has a problem when displaying pictures in the PNG format. All the slides in my previous post turns up with a very wrong aspect. I have changed the files to JPG and will keep using JPG in the future to avoid this annoying problem.
And while I am at it. I really recommend you to subscribe to my feed. I am not updating this blog daily, so checking back all the time to look for something new can be a bit boring.
You can sign up for my email update, or use any RSS feed reader to subscribe. You can read more about RSS here and find all links and forms for the subscription alternatives here. Of course I promise that you won’t get any spam!
